Izzy and her twin sister, Jaz, went to Highborn when they were 11 years old. Izzy was newly specialized with Divination, and she felt a premonition that the school was going to hurt them. More specifically, Jaz. But she didn’t fully understand what this could mean, as she was still learning to use her powers. Jaz meets Alec Claus, but his girlfriend, Candace, threatens to ruin Jaz’s life if he left her, so he was forced to ignore the connection he felt to Jaz.

A year passed and Jaz was called to the headmaster’s office. She never returned. Two weeks later, she was found dead in the forest beside the school with wolf/Lycan footprints nearby. It was assumed they were the ones who killed her, but it was actually Pierce discovering his mate when she was almost dead. However, the High Council used this information as a weapon, and the war began to escalate. Both sides grew bolder, more willing to take risks, and over 12 years, it slowly destroys witch society to the point where Izzy is living in the ruins of Highborn. She met Pierce who sacrificed himself so Izzy could cast a forbidden divination spell that would allow her to travel to other realities, but the price is removing herself from all existence.

A small note about this fact is it did not remove her soulmate from her magic, that part stayed intact because it's deeper than a spell, it can't be erased with time travel.

Izzy spent the next half a century repeatedly going to new realities, only for Jaz to again die to an unknown source. Izzy’s repeated use of time magic weakened the demon portal, and that allowed the ghost of Ambrose Valentine to pass through. He appeared beside Jaz and realized she was his soulmate.

Izzy landed on a reality after fifty years of time travel, one where Jaz was killed like usual, but after losing both Pierce and Jaz, Alec Claus went on a murderous rampage, killing all of the High Council, and crowning himself Dark King Alec. Izzy realized what she was doing wasn’t working, so she took a chance and went to Dark King Alec for help. He and Ambrose helped cast a dangerous spell that would alter Izzy’s next reality in brand new ways, which would hopefully effect enough change to save Jaz’s life. Casting the spell almost killed Dark King Alec, and it drained Ambrose of his powers and memories, making him unable to speak without extreme effort.

Izzy went to this new reality, hoping that things would be different, only to be woken up one day when someone else reset this reality with time magic. If Izzy needs to reset time again, she will have to recast that first spell that erased her, and her magic won’t be able to handle it a second time without another person sacrificing their life to cast it. She knows this is her last chance to save Jaz, and save witches from their seemingly inevitable doom.
