Evelyn has always had a screw loose because she is a powerful divination witch. The more powerful they are, the more unstable their visions can be. She became pregnant in her twenties, but she had many lovers and never knew who the father was. However, given witches are a matriarchy, no one ever cared that her child had no father. Evelyn raised Beatrix alone, and was quite happy to do so, as she has never been interested in a romantic relationship. If she ever takes a lover, it's only sexual.
After Beatrix moved out and got her own life, Evelyn started planting a huge garden for her spells and potions. One day, the bastard mule son of the Unicorn King found his way to her garden, and she took him in, feeling a kinship with the Unicorn Mule, Zelimir. Evelyn is very happy living alone with Zelimir, but she does enjoy seeing her granddaughter, Jaz, and is very focused on changing Jaz's fortunes for the better. She knows Jaz will have soulmates, but not how many, or who they are. Appears inNeck-Romancer
