Sara attended Highborn academy just like every other young witch, but she was expelled before she could graduate because her magic was too unstable.
She moved to a small town, discovering it was inhabited by vampires. Too stubborn to leave, she opened up a bed and breakfast in an old fire house, and made artwork in her spare time.
She caught the attention of the vampire leader in her town, James, and they fell in love. Sara couldn't stay with him, despite how much she cared for him, because he refused to stop blood bingeing, even for her. They broke up shortly before she turned 19, and she discovered she was pregnant with his child. She had a son named Nathan, and raised him on her own until he went to work for his father as soon as he was of age.
Sara knew James was a good man underneath, that his insanity wasn't truly who he was, but she couldn't stand by his side while he continued to hurt people.
