Gaius kept mostly to himself and had not gone to earth in many centuries until he heard his fellow Incubus, Balthazar, had committed a taboo and fallen in love.
Bored and looking for something interesting, he went to Earth to find someone to play with. He was discovered by the girl Balthazar had entangled himself with, the Countess of Bathory. She asked him if he would help her get what she wanted, what Balthazar had refused to give her: a vampire child. Gaius agreed, if only to screw with Balthazar a little.
