Hinata was born into a large family of Oni demons. His family lived near a pack of Anubis, and Hinata became best friends with their youngest son, Set, before they went to elementary school.
​Queen Nyx implemented a decree that all demons should attend school together, to further unify the country, allowing Hinata and Set to attend school together.
One day after school, Hinata and Set were being bullied by their classmates, and their mysterious shadow demon classmate, Bastien, fought the bullies off. The friends realized Bastien wasn't like the others of his kind, and they welcomed him as their best friend. The three were inseparable from then on.
One night, Bastien arrived on Hinata's doorstep after his family disowned him. Set's Anubis pack and Hinata's Oni family welcomed Bastien into their homes, lives, and families, without a second thought, and they raised him as their own.
