Alistair was born in the late 1600's and had a relatively normal life for a British countryman until he discovered vampires and asked to be turned into one. He enjoyed science and alchemy, and kept mostly to himself in the vampire castle.

In the late 1700's, his vampire Order migrated over to America, but the Born vampires left all the turned vampires behind, because of how difficult the journey would be for them since they couldn't be in the sunlight without dying. It wasn't intended to be callous, but Alistair and his turned friends took it that way, and harbored resentment that festered for centuries. Alistair vowed to destroy Born vampires for what they did to him, even if he had to destroy the world in the process.
